Public Service Announcement: Don’t ever do this at a golf tournament
Nelly Korda was fuming during the final round of the Evian. Seriously, why are there people that still think it’s OK?
Question. You are at a golf tournament – a major no less – and you are standing alongside a hole on which there are currently golfers hitting shots. A golf ball lands near your feet. Do you:
(a) Leave it, it’s clearly a ball in play? Or
(b) Inexplicably pick it up?
If you chose (a), well done. You and 99.99% of other people.
This woman at the Evian Championship, meanwhile…
Nelly Korda couldn’t believe it, while at home, like you, I just sat there, jaw open, struggling to believe there are people this stupid.
Sadly, it’s not the first time it’s happened, and certainly won’t be the last.
If you’re wondering what to do in this situation, should you find it happening to you one day, our Rules of Golf man Steve Carroll has got your back.
Now repeat after me:
I will not pick up a golf ball at a golf tournament.
I will not pick up a golf ball at a golf tournament.
I will not pick up a golf ball at a golf tournament.
I will not pick up a golf ball at a go…
