Troia | NCG Top 100s: European Golf Resorts
Troia is one of the more unique resorts to make the NCG Top 100 European Golf Resorts list, due to the fact that the golf course and the accommodation of the resort are all based on the Troia Peninsula, meaning that it is its own little spot of paradise on the western coast of Portugal.
The landscape, shaped over millennia, is now preserved by strict environmental protection directives that have limited occupation to an area of 1,100 hectares, dotted with apartments, townhouses and single-family homes. The Editory, Aqualuz and Troia Residence are the accommodation options at the resort, and all come within this space on the peninsula. They all offer something different, and provide a wide range of choices for families, couples and golfers, who want a place to stay during their time in the region.
Troia Golf is a stunning 18-hole Championship Course that will test the abilities of all that come to play it. Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., the course has stood the test of time, and the views over to Setubal and out to the North Atlantic Ocean make it one of the most sought after golf courses for guests to play.
There is plenty to do on the Troia Peninsula away from the golf course. There are water sports including sailing and windsurfing, as well as having the opportunity to hire a boat. Football, padel, tennis and beach volleyball can all be played, while there are also trails for walking and hiking in the region.

Troia Golf
Troia Golf is situated in the heart of the Troia Peninsula. The Par 72 lay-out, designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr, is there to test even the best golfers. The course runs alongside the beach, with great views of the Arrabida Mountain.
The 3rd is a par-4 that fits perfectly in the landscape with a magnificent sea view, was considered by Robert Trent Jones Sr as one of the best he has ever designed, and he included it in his ideal 18-hole golf course.
The 4th and 17th holes also play with the beach and the sea on the golfer’s left, making them harder, but also more beautiful at the same time. The closing hole at Troia is a dog-leg left par-5, with an elevated green which is protected by three front bunkers.
