Arabella Overview | NCG Top 100s: European Golf Resorts

Three Championship Golf Courses

Arabella is blessed to have three amazing championship golf courses under its portfolio - the Son Muntaner, Son Vida and Son Quint. All three provide their own challenges, quirks and charms.

Son Muntaner
The Son Muntaner Course is the only golf course in the Balearic Islands that is part of the network of European Tour Destinations. It is a wonderful design, and the course achieved its championship status in October 2022.

Son Muntaner was the chosen host of the Mallorca Golf Open. During the week, more than 12,000 people saw the challenges that the golf course had to offer the best in the world, with Germany’s Yannik Paul eventually coming out on top by a single shot on Sunday afternoon.

The opening three holes all play alongside water hazards for a tough beginning to the round, with more hazards featuring on the back nine, and in particular, the 14th hole. Both the 9th and 18th holes end up back at the clubhouse, where you’ll need a drink after playing the Son Muntaner.

Son Vida
The Son Vida is more of a technical course than the Son Muntaner, while the mansions of the Son Vida estate have incredible views of the course. This lay-out was also the host of the DP World Tour twice, with a tournament being played on the Son Vida in both 1990 and 1994.

The Son Vida offers up a gentle start to the round with a short par-4 followed by a par-3, but there is plenty of trouble to come later in the round. The course finishes with a tricky par-5, in which the approach shot, whether it be your second and third shot, is played over water and back towards the clubhouse.

Son Quint
The Son Quint is more of an open course than its siblings, which encourages an aggressive game and guaranteed enjoyment for beginners and enthusiasts with a punch.

Out of bounds comes into play on the majority of holes on the front nine, so you can’t be too wild off the tee, despite it playing more open than Son Muntaner and Son Vida. The 12th is the signature hole on Son Vida. A lengthy par-3, played over the lake, you have to make sure that you take enough club to carry the water.

Palma Pitch and Putt & Golf Academy

The Palma Pitch and Putt is the only official pitch and putt course on the island. The course is perfect for those only just learning the game, with a range of different golf holes designed to help players learn the nuances of the game. All nine holes on the Palma are par-3s, ranging from 60 to 105 yards long, to provide different tests.

Along with the Palma Pitch and Putt, there is also a Golf Academy attached to Son Muntaner, which provides a driving range facility, along with both putting and chipping areas to hone the short game skills. The Golf Academy also provides lessons, mainly for beginners who are just learning the game. Those lessons include swing analysis and on course management tuition.

Sheraton Mallorca Arabella Golf Hotel

The Sheraton Mallorca Arabella Golf Hotel is just one of the accommodation options for guests who want to experience the three courses that Arabella has to offer.

It was the first golf resort hotel on the island, and the Sheraton Mallorca Arabella Golf Hotel continues to be a wonderful location for golf enthusiasts. There are 93 rooms and suites with modern amenities ready for all guests. The 5-star hotel provides rooms at both ends of the spectrum. From their Superior Rooms, which are the standard, through Deluxe Suites all the way up to the Hole-In-One Suites, the Sheraton Mallorca Arabella Golf Hotel has something for all the family.

The hotel is family-friendly, with a range of activities. Tennis and volleyball courts are available, while the island can be explored on bicycles which can be rented. The Arabella Kids & Tweens Clubs awaits young guests, with games and activities to keep the little ones entertained. There is also Europe’s first Shine Spa by Sheraton, with five dedicated treatment rooms, an indoor pool, sauna and steam rooms for guests to relax in.

Castillo Hotel Son Vida

The Castillo Hotel Son Vida is an adults-only hotel located in the Arabella Resort. Fully refurbished in 2022, the Castillo Son Vida has been inspired by the charms of the island, with stunning views out over the bay of Palma.

There are a glorious range of 164 rooms and suites for guests to enjoy during their stay at the Castillo Hotel Son Vida, which also bring the rich heritage of the region to its heart, along with a contemporary and modern design.
The hotel also has its own spa - the Castillo Hotel Son Vida Spa. There are Maria Galland and DEMARES’ beauty lines on offer during massages and treatments, while the fitness studio at the spa is open 24-hours for guests who want to work out during a stay at the hotel. The hotel is also the home to a range of stunning restaurants, including El Castell, the fine dining option.
