How many players make the weekend at the US Open
The majority of 72-hole strokeplay events that take place feature a cut after 36 holes and like the US Open, this is also the case at the Open.
The cut after the second round reduces the field significantly and will see many players sent packing.
The Open cut rule
The only players that we will see playing the weekend are those who are in 70th place or better and this includes those tied for 70th.
There is no 10-shot rule at the Open. The 10-shot rule allows anyone within 10 shots of the lead to make it through, but this is not applicable here.
