A large clear screen with precise data – that is what the Pinned Caddie Golf GPS tablet delivers. But will it be the next GPS golf product for you? Let our review help you decide,,,
Golf GPS devices are evolving, with screens growing larger to deliver more detailed course information. Pinned Golf’s ‘The Caddie’ stands out as one of the biggest, boasting an impressive 8-inch display.
But does size really matter on the course? I took The Caddie out for a test to see if its large screen translates into better informed decisions. I am someone who regularly uses a trolley and I have to say this product is not for those who carry – due to the size – but is worthy of consideration for those who trolley or cart.
Nevertheless, The Caddie looks to provide exceptional detail and visibility, and so a very handy addition to those that do not carry. Let’s dive in to whether this larger screen device lives up to its promise….
The Caddie, an award winning golf device, offers a large, clear screen with accurate yardages and detailed game data, making it a valuable tool for golfers who use a trolley or buggy.
The Caddie won the Best New Product at the 2025 PGA Show and so I was looking forward to great things when it arrived. It is superbly packaged and the unit comes in a very robust travel case.
The first thing I noticed was the weight of the product. The Caddie is around the size of an iPad but is quite significantly heavier. Once turned on, the screen is very clear and after the initial set up process (it’s quite intuitive) I was ready to put it to the test.
On-course testing
There is no subscription required for The Caddie and you get access to over 45,000 courses around the world. After setting up your profile, The Caddie shows you the courses local to you. When selecting your course, it is important to remember that you need to have internet access to download it for the first time. This could be frustrating if you don’t plan ahead and can’t get a connection at the course.
The Caddie comes with an incredibly strong magnet that can attach to the frame of a buggy but if you want to attach it to you trolley, you will need to invest in a trolley mount. The mount is very well designed and strong enough to securely hold The Caddie but it is not cheap and will set you back about £50!

The Caddie works in a similar manner to the golf yardage apps that are available to download to your phone but on steroids. The screen is huge and the information provided is very clear. You have the ability to see a hole by hole flyover, helping you to get accustomed to the hole you are playing. It also allows you to plot distances to hazards and provides highly accurate distances to the front, middle and back of the green.
Where The Caddie takes thing to the next level is the data it provides you on your game. Everything from driving accuracy to greens in regulation are available, enabling you to see those areas that need extra attention.
It also allows you to track and score your game, easily entering your playing partner’s details and covering all of the different game modes.
In addition to all this, The Caddie is designed to be your partner in all weather conditions, with its highly waterproof design.
NCG Final Verdict
The Caddie is a great piece of kit. Its size make the visuals really clear, however, this could also be its drawback, as the screen dominates your trolley. Its main advantage against phone based apps is that you can focus on your game, without the interruptions that your phone brings.
If you are looking for clear and accurate yardage details then The Caddie is well worth considering.
