Morgan Pressel’s continuing love affair with links golf continued on day two with a bogey-free 70 to add to her opening 66.
The 25-year-old has a poor record in the championship but a new maturity from the newlywed has seen her barely struggle over the Old Course. Over the two days Pressel has dropped just one shot.
On Friday she birdied the 3rd and the 10th and only once had to hole a putt of six feet (at the 11th) to save par.
“I would say I’ve grown up a bit, everything happens for a reason and I think my past struggles here at St Andrews as well as links golf in general taught me a lot. This is my eighth year and that makes me feel really old sometimes at 25.
“Everybody says to build on your experiences and learn from all of your mistakes but sometimes you don’t see that until a little bit further down the road.”
"This is my eighth year and that makes me feel really old sometimes at 25" – Morgan Pressel Pressel has played on three Solheim Cup teams and is currently outside the automatic spots, something that she is trying to keep under wraps.
“I’ve played well for two days and I’m more focused on this tournament. I feel like I’ve given myself the best opportunity to play on the team in the last couple of months. We’ll see how it falls but I feel good about where I am.”
