What’s really in a tour player’s bag?

Equipment editor Hannah Holden rounds up a week of gear news, including Adam Scott's bag, Brooks Koepka's shoes, and some new Titleist tour bags

Hello. There has been a lot of golf news this week, including a delicious new Titleist tour bag.

But before we get there, TaylorMade have had a huge week, launching a new range of irons, wedges and putters – and I’ve got my hands on all of it:

Elsewhere, Brooks Koepka was front and centre at the BMW Championship – and not for his potential heavyweight bout with Bryson DeChambeau.

He played in the pro-am with Bo Jackson, famous for his “Bo knows” campaign with Nike in ’80s and ’90s, a quote that appears on the baseball legend’s shoes. So of course Koepka had to go one better…

Here’s a closer look:

Thumbs up or thumbs down? Let me know.

And this popped up on my Facebook the other day. Adam Scott posted a photo of everything that’s in his golf bag…

If you have ever wondered what is in the bag…..well here it is. 🇦🇺🏌️‍♂️😀

Aside from the usual clubs (including his controversial putter), balls and gloves, I can make out sunglasses, suncream, a putting practice aid, three pencils, a Sharpie, and a spare pair of shoes.

I can’t quite work out whatever that is with the Uniqlo logo on it, and what’s in the box with the picture of the cat on it? Answers on a postcard or, preferably, in a tweet.

Is that a new Titleist tour bag?

That is new Titleist tour bag Scott is sporting there. I saw that all the Titleist staffers had them in play at the Northern Trust.

It’s been a while since Titleist have updated their tour bags and I think we can all agree they’ve done a stellar job.

The bag features luxurious detailing including velour top cuff materials, premium ball pocket panels and quilted hip pads.

Justin Thomas is pretty happy:

I’m absolutely pumped for the new tour bag. We’ve been asking for a fresh, new look and the designers came through big. I love the blacked-out design with the red zippers – and that white Titleist script just pops. You can tell they’ve taken our feedback and thought about every little detail. It’s really slick.

Available from September 1, the new Titleist tour bags will set you back a cool £450. You can find out more on the Titleist website.

Mizuno are at it too

Mizuno have launched some new bags as well, a full new range of stand and trolley bags offering practical and stylish options.

The Mizuno BR-D2 stand bag is a lightweight, compact and useful little bag which would be ideal for practice, a weekend away, or a quick nine holes. A mini stand combines with a waterproof underbelly and matching rainhood to keep your clubs dry.

The Mizuno BR-D3 stand bag is slightly larger than the BR-D2 yet it remains lightweight, compact and mobile.

The BR-D4 has a versatile base meaning it is equally as good on a trolley or being carried. Numerous pockets and compartments will accommodate anything you could ever need on the course.

The BR-DRI is a totally waterproof option available in both a stand and trolley bag. It’s mobile and lightweight and can that can take anything the elements can throw at it.

Mizuno’s BR-D4C Cart Bag is the brand’s maximum storage cart bag with 12 pockets and compartments.

The bags are available in August with prices starting at £110. More information on the Mizuno website.

Gabriela Ruffels feathers

Gabriela Ruffels had thirteen Ping clubs in her bag when she won the US Women’s Amateur. She became the first Australian to win the title as she birdied the last two holes to beat Albane Valenzuela 1-up. Among her equipment was the G410 driver and i210 irons, the No. 1 iron model on the LPGA Tour this season.

This is not the first big amateur win with Ping equipment, both the US boys junior and girls junior winners played 14 Ping clubs.

Lucky charms

PRG bespoke golf accessories have launched a new originals range, a limited edition line with quirky fun designs.

The range includes putter covers, wood covers and alignment stick covers. The range includes a variety of designs including Las Vegas, Route 66 or Lucky Charm themes.

The collection will be available in August with prices starting at £22. More information on the PRG website.

That’s it from me this week. As always, if you have any questions then drop them in the comments section below, or you can tweet me.
