Haverfordwest's Becky Harries has won the Golf Union of Wales Ping Order of Merit.
Haverfordwest’s Becky Harries is looking forward to a winter of hard work to build on the success of her Order of Merit success, after finishing as runner-up for three straight years.
Harries had finished second behind Amy Boulden for the last three years, but with Boulden making her way on to the Ladies European Tour, 25-year-old Harries was finally able to secure the Golf Union of Wales Ping Order of Merit.
“I have been close to winning the Order of Merit a few times and had some good years, so it is nice to do it this year,” said Harries. “I will have a bit of a break now, but keep practicing through the winter.”
‘I enjoy what I am doing at the moment’ Harries said she does not feel ready to turn professional yet, explaining: “You have got to be really good and on top of your game to get somewhere in the professional ranks of women’s golf. I enjoy what I am doing at the moment, I love playing for Wales and the team events are something special.”
She added that the upcoming Vagliano Trophy between GB&I and the Curtis Cup in two years means she has plenty of targets left in the amateur game.
