See how much each player took home at TPC San Antonio

The Valero Texas Open represented the last shot for many players to win a spot in the Masters, as well as a chance for some others to put in some final preparations for the event at Augusta National.

Four of the world’s top 10 players headed to TPC San Antonio where others not only jostled for positions at the Masters, but many players wanted to perform well to confirm their spots in the RBC Heritage after.

Rory McIlroy, Corey Conners, Jordan Spieth, Collin Morikawa, Max Homa, Ludvig Aberg and Brian Harman fine-tuned their game before the first major of the season.

Hideki Matsuyama, Matt Fitzpatrick, Tommy Fleetwood and Tom Kim also played for the lion’s share of the $9.2 million prize purse.

Last year, Corey Conners won this event for the second time, beating Sam Stevens by one shot. He won the event for the first time in 2019.

But despite the number of stars competing in Texas, it was Akshay Bhatia who won his second PGA Tour title and booked his spot at the Masters.

He held a six-shot lead at one stage on Sunday, but eight brilliant birdies on the back nine by Denny McCarthy meant that Bhatia had to do it the hard way in a playoff.

After McCarthy dunked his ball in the water on the first playoff hole, Bhatia was able to capitalise and win to earn his first major start.

So how much did each player win? Here’s the full Valero Texas Open prize money breakdown, as well as previous prize purses.
