The final Valero Texas Open leaderboard 2018:
Report
Andrew Landry put on a classy final-round display to claim his maiden PGA Tour title at TPC San Antonio. The Texan, who lost in a playoff against Jon Rahm at the CareerBuilder Challenge earlier in the year, opened with three straight birdies and looked in control for the whole day.
He did have to hold off a stiff challenge from Trey Mullinax, though. After Landry missed short putts at both 12 and 14, it seemed that the pressure may have been getting to him.
But ultimately, the pressure affected Mullinax a lot more. On the drivable par-4 17th, Mullinax’s drive came up slightly short of the green-side bunker. Needing to put it close to get it to within one of the leader, he completely chunked his chip straight into the bunker.
With a par at the final hole, Landry secured his two-shot victory, holding off Mullinax as well as Sean O’Hair who closed with a round 66.
There was also big moves for both Jimmy Walker and Joaquin Niemann, who was making his first start as a professional.
