Turkish Airlines Open preview

Justin Rose WITB

For the second week running Justin Rose is the defending champion as the Englishman returns to Belek’s golfing heaven for the Turkish Airlines Open.

It’s the first in a trio of Rolex Series events which lead into the season-ending DP World Tour Championship in Dubai where the Race to Dubai champion will be crowned.

Rose headlines the field, with Tommy Fleetwood – last year’s European No.1 – hot on his tail. But disappointingly this is a fairly weak field for what is one of the European Tour’s premier events on the schedule.

Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Thorbjorn Olesen and Haotong Li are the only other top-50 players in the field.

Turkish Airlines Open betting tips

With an 8th place finish on debut last year, Julian Suri (40/1, 5 places) rates as the best bet as he searches to capture his second European Tour title.

The American has seemingly enjoyed a solid year, although it was perhaps telling when he explained he was disappointed with his season when interviewed by Sky Sports at the British Masters.

It’s clear that Suri oozes confidence and believes he has the talent to compete with the very best.

A top-five at Walton Heath and a runner-up finish at the Open de France – where he may well have won had he not found the water on the 18th – represent his best efforts this season.

With good course form at Carya under his belt, he has a chance of going close this week.
