Tour Championship fantasy picks
This week the PGA Tour heads to East Lake for the PGA Tour’s season finale with the top 30 players in the FedEx Cup shooting it out for a chance of winning the $10 million prize bonus.
The aim in this year’s game is to pick the right players to match the RankBuster. This week it is set at 45 so who can you fit in your team to beat it? Here are my Tour Championship fantasy picks.
Brooks Koepka
Fantasy Rank: 4
Koepka has had another impressive season, particularly in the majors, winning two of the three he has played after missing the Masters with a wrist injury.
Since his missed cut at the Canadian Open, his form reads 5-Win-T8-T12-T19. Koepka also has the extra incentive in that he has a chance to become the new World No. 1 if he finish in a two-way tie for 18th or better.
Rickie Fowler
Fantasy Rank: 7
Following an oblique injury that prevented him from starting the first two playoff events, Fowler finished on 16 under par and in a tie for eighth at the BMW Championship.
His best finish in the last five years at the Tour Championship was a solo eighth finish in 2014. He’s another player that would require a victory to have any chance of winning the FedEx Cup.
Tony Finau
Fantasy Rank: 9
It’s pretty simple business for Tony Finau this week, win the Tour Championship and he’ll lift the FedEx Cup.
Impressive form that has seen him finish inside the top 10 on 11 occasions this year also saw him secure Jim Furyk’s final wildcard slot on Team USA’s Ryder Cup team.
Finau last three finishes have been a T8 at the BMW Championship, T4 at the Dell Technologies Championship and second at the Northern Trust.
Tommy Fleetwood
Fantasy Rank: 12
The Englishman is looking to finish off another fantastic year. He has only finished outside the top 25 once in his last seven starts, which was a T35 finish at the PGA Championship.
That was also the lowest Fleetwood had finished on a PGA Tour sanctioned event since a missed cut at the Wells Fargo Championship back at the start of May.
Webb Simpson
Fantasy Rank: 14
Simpson is another player who has had a consistent year and has a good chance of taking the spoils on Sunday. He’s finished inside the top 25 on 15 occasions, eight of those being inside the top 10. That includes a runaway victory at the Players Championship.
It looked like the American’s game might have run out of steam in the first two playoff events. He responded at the BMW Championship with a T6 finish after two closing rounds of 65.
Jon Rahm
Fantasy Rank: 17
Rahm didn’t have the best start to the FedEx Cup playoffs but a T24 finish at the BMW Championship will have got him going in the right direction towards Paris at the end of the month.
The game is there if the Spaniard can keep his temper under control. Rahm currently sits fourth for the average number of birdies made on the PGA Tour this season.
