Top 5: NCG’s favourite bald golfers

A countdown of the follically challenged golf superstars we adore most

It is now official. When Europe and the United States lock horns in France next year it will be the battle of the bald golfers.

Jim Furyk will skipper the Americans at Le Golf National and will attempt to outwit eccentric Dane and fellow baldy, Thomas Bjorn.

However, Furyk and Bjorn are just two in a long line of our favourite follically challenged golfers.

Let’s take a look at the others…

5. Bill Haas

The 34-year-old American’s great uncle, Bob Goalby, played in 27 Masters and won the green jacket in 1968.

Haas comes from a family of distinguished golfers. His father is nine-time PGA Tour winner, Jay Haas, while his brother, Jay Haas Jr, and uncle, Jerry Haas, were former PGA Tour players.

4. Matt Kuchar

Olympic bronze medallist, Matt Kuchar, missed out on picking up a shiny new Cadillac at the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai, China, last October because of some fine print.

The 38-year-old made a hole-in-one on the par-3 17th in the third round but the shot had to be from at least 200 yards away for a player to win the vehicle.

However, due to the deteriorating condition of the back tee, tournament organisers moved the tee further forward.

This meant the hole was only 193 yards and just shy of the 200 needed to win the Cadillac with an ace.

Gutted!

3. Jim Furyk

A major downside for bald golfers wearing a cap while playing in a tropical paradise.

The 2009 Open champion has netted a total of $34,292,689 on the PGA Tour in a career dating back to 1995.

1. Thomas Bjorn
