Thinking about your next golf break? We have travelled the length and breadth of the British Isles to rank the best resorts they have to offer
As evenings lengthen and a long winter has made way for spring, now is the time to start thinking about escaping – and why not to one of the many fine golf resorts in Great Britain and Ireland?
We have ranked the best resorts based on a number of factors: the golf course(s), accommodation, facilities, and setting. We have compiled the list taking everything into account, so an amazing hotel with a nine-hole golf course may not rank as highly as a 4-star resort with 36 holes, and similarly a resort with an incredible golf course but limited facilities may also appear further down the list than some might think it deserves.
But make no mistake, all the resorts in this list, from 1 to 100, have earned their place.
Depending on what you are looking for from a break – whether that is world class golf or the restorative power of a spa, an activity break with the family, or to be surrounded by natural beauty, hopefully we can help to narrow down your choices. You will still likely face a dilemma of where to go, but we hope an enjoyable one.
Before you get your head down in the list, there is an asterisk. One notable omission is Skibo Castle. While the exceptional golf course is open to all, the castle and accommodation is for members only and however special it may be – and it really is – we felt it could not be included in this list.
With that in mind, happy browsing!
