Tiger has fallen to an all-time low
Having held the No 1 spot for a never-to-be-beaten 683 weeks throughout his career, Tiger Woods has sunk to his lowest position ever in the OWGR
Tiger Woods has slumped to his lowest position ever in the Official World Golf Rankings.
Just 87 days after Woods last competed in an OWGR event at The Open, the 15-time-major winner now sees himself ranked World No 1206, dropping a further 87 spots since last week. The position marks an all-time low for Woods throughout his coveted 26 year career.
Besides The Open at St Andrews, Woods has only featured on three other occasions throughout 2022, teeing up at both the Masters and the PGA Championship as well as the JP McManus Pro-Am in July.
Following the horrific leg injury he sustained in a car crash in 2021, Woods had commented that he “won’t be playing a full PGA Tour schedule ever again”, adding that “it will be just the big events.”
Given his sustained injury – which caused Woods to withdraw from the PGA Championship and pull out of the US Open – the American now hasn’t been since July which has led to the dramatic fall in the world rankings.
While there have been signs and rumours of a Tiger return, the legendary figure is yet to commit to to an OWGR event, although he has left three exemptions open at his own tournament – the Hero World Challenge – which will offer world ranking points when he gets underway in November.
