‘Don’t copy my swing’: Tiger reveals crucial tip given to Charlie

The 15-time major winner has exposed exactly who he expects his son to mimic out on the course

We’re now just days away from the highly anticipated return of the biggest needle mover in the world of golf – Charlie Woods that is of course.

But as everyone prepares for Charlie to tee up alongside his dad at a third PNC Championship, Tiger Woods has revealed the crucial advice he’s given to his son, exposing he’s told the 13-year-old to not “copy my swing”, and instead mimic another one of the world’s best golfers.

Just who are we talking about? Well here’s what the 15-time major winner revealed when he joined NBC’s Golf Channel for another candid appearance at the Hero World Challenge.

“I told [Charlie], ‘Don’t copy my swing. Copy Rory’s,’ ” Woods told the broadcast team at his own event in the Bahamas. “Have you ever seen Rory off balance on a shot? No. Not ever. You can swing as hard as you want, but you need to have balance.”

Having also exposed he constantly plays “mind-games” with the young star, it seems Tiger’s advice to copy Rory McIlroy’s swing has also already been playing off, with several commenters noticing the stark similarities between the pair when Charlie recently tee’d up at a junior national championship

Certainly Rory-esque, and another example of Tiger’s ever-growing admiration of the World No 1 golfer.

And, if that wasn’t enough to already wet your appetite ahead of the father/son PNC Championship – as if we weren’t already starving enough – Woods Sr then went on to reveal that Charlie has now reached the stage where he’s starting to outdrive his father.

“It’s already happening,” Tiger said when quizzed on the matter. “He hasn’t beaten me yet. But that is coming.”

The PNC Championship gets underway on December 15. Before that, Tiger and Rory take on Justin Thomas and Jordan Spieth in the seventh edition of ‘The Match’.
