With the 2020 PGA Tour just wrapping up, we’re already starting to get excited for what’s in store for 2022. PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan announced the 2021-22 schedule on Tuesday, with an expanded 48-event championship to reach even more golfers than before.

Major Tournaments in 2022
The Players Championship: The Players Championship is always one of the most highly anticipated events on the PGA Tour. The Masters’ Tournament: One of golf’s “major” tournaments, The Masters’ Tournament is always a must-watch event. Held annually at Augusta National Golf Club in Georgia, this tournament always features some of the top players in the world. This year’s field is shaping up to be one of the best yet, with Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka, and Dustin Johnson all expected to participate.
The U.S. Open: The U.S. Open is another one of golf’s major tournaments and is always a hotly contested event. This year’s tournament will be held at the Country Club in Brookline, Massachusetts from June 13th to 19th. The US Open tournament always features a star-studded lineup, and this year will be no different.
The Open Championship: The Open Championship is also a “major” tournament in the world of professional golf and is scheduled to take place at St. Andrews Links (Old Course) in St. Andrews, Fife, Scotland. This year’s event will be held from July 11th to 17th.

FedEx Cup Playoffs in the PGA Tour in 2022
The PGA tour this year constitutes a total of 45 events excluding the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Together with the three big events under this tournament, the PGA tour ends at the end of September. The FedEx Cup Playoffs are a series of three events that lead into the final event, which is where all the points and money will be decided for this year’s winner.
FedEx St. Jude Championship: The FedEx St. Jude Classic is the first event in the FedEx Cup Playoffs and will be held from August 8 to 14 at TPC Southwind in Memphis, Tennessee. The remarkable feature of the FedEx St. Jude Classic is that it donates all of its proceeds to charity, specifically the Memphis-based St. Jude Children’s Research Center.
BMW Championship: Beginning on August 15th and running through August 21, golfers can enjoy watching PGA tour players compete at Wilmington Country Club (South Course) in Wilmington, Delaware for this next leg of play-offs. The BMW championship especially offers a purse of $8.75 million, with the champion taking home no less than $1.7 million.
The Tour Championship: After three rounds of intense battle between some of our favourite PGA stars, we’ll finally have our victor as they head off to East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia for the final round of play-offs. A total purse of $15 million will be up for grabs from September 22nd to 28th at this event, with the FedEx Cup winner taking home a cool $15 million bonus.
What’s New This Year?
The 2022 PGA TOUR season is set to be one of the most lucrative in history with total prize money amounting to over $62 million. The 45-event regular schedule will welcome one new tournament, ClubCorp Classic at Irving Golf Course located within one of Texas’ largest cities – Irving.
A wide range of destinations is offered throughout 20 U.S states and three countries outside America (Canada, Morocco, and Scotland) during this year-long competition which has already commenced on September 13th, 2021 with its first championship being the Fortinet championship in Silverado resort and spa in Napa California and will continue until next year until August when the players will compete for the FedEx Cup Playoffs title.

The new event, Club Corp Classic, will give amateur golfers a chance to participate in the event. The PGA Tour champions will compete against 50 of the top global champions in sports.
