The Masters: Ryan Moore out to break Par 3 curse

Ryan Moore insists he can become the first person to win the Masters after triumphing in the Par 3 contest.

The Amercian, ranked 33 in the world, carded a six under par 21 to win by two shots.
Someone has got to break that curse at some point in time, so hopefully it’s me But the 31 year-old is not afraid of the “Par 3 winners’ curse” and claims the hoodoo will be broken someday.

Moore said: “I’m not afraid of it. You never know. Someone has got to break that curse at some point in time, so hopefully it’s me, if I end up winning. Who knows? 

“I might go shoot eight under or something, make a couple hole-in-ones. We’ll see.”

Fellow American’s Kevin Stadler and Fuzzy Zoeller finished tied for second on four under. Bernhard Langer, Joost Luiten and Victor Dubuisson finished a further shot back.

Moore enjoyed what he called a “perfect practice round” with his 18-month old son Tucker.

He added: It was fun having my boy out there and playing a round, you know, playing with a couple of friends. 

“That’s what it’s for, to kind of make you relax a little bit and just go and enjoy yourself the afternoon before.”
