The best golf events still to play in 2019

Summary

It’s been a slightly different golfing calendar in 2019. The four Majors have already taken place but that doesn’t mean that a dull end to the year lies ahead of us. It’s the exact opposite in fact with national pride and huge amounts of prize money to be won in the coming months both in the USA and the UK.

The FedEx Cup

The FedEx Cup reaches its conclusion this weekend and there are millions of dollars to be won. Last year it was won by Justin Rose and was notable for Tiger Woods winning the final event, the Tour Championship.

This weekend sees the Tour Championship take place between August 22 and 25 at the East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Georgia. Tiger Woods won’t be defending his title though due to the format of the FedEx Cup. The overall winner is determined by points earned in the qualifying tournaments with a massive $15m going to the winner. The poor runner-up will have to make do with just $5m prize money.

Massive wins like that usually only come from some big, lucky casino games. If your golf isn’t up to scratch, then you can try to get some massive wins. If unsure where to go, visiting an online casino comparison site is a great idea. There are so many casino sites that it is always worth doing checks before playing online, to make sure you pick the best one. Which is also why it’s best to use websites that offer comprehensive reviews of online casino sites.

Back on the golf course, only the top 30 in the FedEx Cup table are competing this week. Justin Thomas tops the table after his win in last week’s Tour Championship. It’s a little bit confusing because under the new format, the players won’t start this tournament on level par. Instead, their starting score is based on their standing in the FedEx Cup table. That means Thomas starts on -10, Cantlay -8 and Koepka -7.

The Solheim Cup

Whereas the FedEx Cup is all about individual play and winning millions of dollars, this tournament is about representing your team, not prize money. Europe will be hosting the USA at Gleneagles in Scotland between September 13 and 15.

Europe will be attempting to regain the Solheim Cup having lost the last two of these biennial events. History will be made if the USA win in Scotland. That’s because Jill Inkster remains their captain and attempts to become the first to lead their team to a hat-trick of wins.

The European team will be hoping to regain the Solheim Cup. They have some top players such as Carlota Ciganda, Georgia Hall, Anne van Dam and Charley Hull. They face a tough task though with America having a strong line-up. Players to look out for on their team include Lexi Thompson and Nelly Korda.

BMW PGA Championship

That’s not the final big tournament to take place in the United Kingdom. Between September 19 and 22, the BMW PGA Championship is being held at Wentworth in Surrey, England.

Those of you with long memories will remember that at this time of the year, it used to be the World Matchplay Championship at Wentworth. That’s no more and instead we have one of Europe’s top tournaments.

This tournament is usually held over the May Bank Holiday but as mentioned previously, it’s a new-look golfing calendar this year. Francesco Molinari will be defending his title and will want a win as he’s been slipping down the world rankings in recent weeks.

Other top players on their way to Wentworth include Rory McIlroy and Luke Donald. They will be hoping to win a large share of the $7m prize money.
