TaylorMade’s MG wedges are back with a brand new look

What's new in TaylorMade's latest Milled Grind wedge offering? Hannah Holden takes a closer look

TaylorMade’s most popular tour wedge is back for 2021 and even Tiger Woods’ short sticks have had an upgrade.

TaylorMade Milled Grind 3: First impressions

The shaping is so drastically different here. The whole wedge is more rounded with my subtle curves and fewer sharp edges.

We do still however have the instantly recognisable milled grind lines on the sole which really stand out and contrast with the smoothness of the back of the club head.

TaylorMade Milled Grind 3: The technology

Raw face technology is still the big talking point here. Raw wedges are super popular on tour thanks to the fact they offer a more consistent spin performance – especially in wet conditions.

To increase the spin even further raised micro-ribs span the entire face. These create a rough textured surface between the grooves for better grip on half shots.

The centre of gravity is personalised in each loft, the higher the loft the higher the CG to help bring down launch and increase spin.

Each wedge features a different hosel length relative to its loft to help TaylorMade optimise the CG location of each club for the correct launch.

There are four grind options available: low bounce, standard bounce, high bounce, and Tiger’s TW bounce. All are created using TaylorMade’s milled grind sole process where the leading edge and sole are CNC milled for consistency.
