In the two years since it was released, the TaylorMade Penta TP ball – the first five-layer offering on the market – has racked up 30 worldwide wins, including two Majors.
The company are not resting on their laurels, though – they’ve just released a new-and-improved version.
The new Penta TP5 is designed to offer more distance and feel than the original, which TaylorMade say will appeal to all golfers.
John Kawaja, TaylorMade Executive Vice President, said: “The PENTA TP5 was created for our Tour pros, yet it’s a great ball for every level of player.
“You don’t need to have a fast swing speed to achieve excellent distance with the PENTA TP5. Golfers will also benefit from the same high greenside spin they have become accustomed to with the original PENTA TP.”
TaylorMade say that the majority of their tour staff will make the transition to the Penta TP5, including Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, and Sergio Garcia. Key to the increased performance of the new Penta is a 28 per cent lower core compression, which offers less driver spin for more distance and softer feel around the greens for control. A fast outer mantle layer delivers more spin with short irons for maximum contorl, while also helping slower swing speeds get more distance without sacrificing feel.
TaylorMade say that the majority of their tour staff will make the transition to the Penta TP5, including Dustin Johnson, Jason Day, Sergio Garcia, Martin Kaymer and Justin Rose.
The Penta TP5 retails at £44.99 a dozen and hits shops on February 3rd.
TaylorMade have also launched a cheaper version – the three-layer Penta TP3 which offers the same soft feel with lots of spin on long irons and a special core for maximum distance with the driver.
The performance is premium, but, coming in at £36.99 for 12, the price tag is much more affordable.
