South East: Olympic star ups sticks
Bronze medal-winning hockey player Chloe Rogers, of High Wycombe, is swapping hockey sticks for golf clubs after changing career.
Rogers, who played 162 times for the England and Great Britain hockey teams, retired this summer and said: “In my head the ambition is to play golf and hopefully be one of the best in the world.”
The 29-year-old played in a Ladies European Tour Access event at Stoke by Nayland last weekend but missed the cute after rounds of 86 and 76.
‘My ambition is to be one of the best in the world’ She added: “Realistically I’m not anywhere near, but in the long-term I’d love to be playing golf as a career.
“I’ve got quick hands through the ball, so when it’s all on time and working well it can be good, but it does have its bad moments as well.”
