Shriners Hospitals for Children Open preview
The PGA Tour heads to its annual stop in Las Vegas for the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open at TPC Summerlin.
Patrick Cantlay picked up his first win here last year, and he joins some big names in what looks to be one of the tournament’s best fields in recent years.
Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Bryson DeChambeau and Webb Simpson all make their first starts of the new season, while Tony Finau will look to shake off playoff loss disappointment last week in China.
Windy conditions contributed to the tournament’s toughest ever renewal last year, but with good forecasted weather this week, scoring is expected to return to the usual where players should be able to break 20-under-par.
Shriners Hospitals for Children Open betting tips
Joaquin Niemann’s (66/1, 7 places) transition to the professional ranks was seamless. Top-10 finishes at the Valero Texas Open, Fort Worth Invitational, The Memorial Tournament and The Greenbrier earlier in the year attest to that.
I think it’s fairly obvious that this former world No.1 amateur is going to be a star in the very near future.
That’s why the 66/1 available for the Chilean this week looks more than fair. He’s not in particularly great form, with no top-20 finishes in each of his last six starts, but we’ll likely look back in 12 month’s time and wonder how on earth this talent went off at this sort of price in a fairly low-grade PGA Tour event.
