WITB: Sergio Garcia – Dubai Desert Classic

Garcia moved back into the world’s top-10 with his 12th European Tour win. See what’s in his bag...

It’s been a superb start to 2017 for TaylorMade with wins for John Rahm and now his compatriot Sergio Garcia has got in on the act with the new M2 driver.

Garcia was third in driving distance and second in accuracy as he secured a wire-to-wire victory.

With the new TaylorMade M2 driver in the bag he averaged 305 yards off the tee and hit 70 percent of fairways.

Long-time TaylorMade staffer Garcia has been quick to embrace new gear for 2017 with a couple of 2017 M1 fairway woods in the bag.

He’s also got the all-new P750 Tour Proto irons on the go which helped him to hit 82 percent of greens in regulation – better than anyone else in the field.

He also has a new TP Collection Juno putter with which he led the field for birdies with 22.

TaylorMade’s new five-layer TP5 ball was also a key part of Garcia’s set-up in Dubai which the brand claim offers more distance with irons and woods.

Tour players have been quick to embrace the new ball with will form part of the 2017 NCG balls test launching soon.

With a win under his belt so early in the season, Garcia now turns his attentions to landing his maiden major title.

“When I get to Augusta, US Open, the British Open, PGA, I just want to do the best I can,” he said.

“Just like I try any other week. Some weeks I’m really good like this week, and some weeks are not quite as good. But it doesn’t mean that I’m not trying.

“So at the end of the day the only thing I can do is give my best out there and if I leave the course feeling like I gave it everything then I am trying.”
