Venue: Country Club of Jackson, Mississippi, USA
Date: October 1-4, 2020
Course stats: Par 72; 7,460 yards
Course summary: A flat parkland course that shouldn’t give the players too many headaches. Bunkers and water hazards are the course’s main defence, protecting wider than average fairways and Bermuda greens. As a relatively long track, driving distance will be important for players in order to set up an ideal approach shot.
Purse: $6.6 million
Defending champion: Sebastian Munoz (-18)

Sanderson Farms Championship betting: Staking Plan
Sam Burns – 2pt win @ 25/1 with bet365
Burns arrives this week in great form, finishing T28 and 7th in two events since the start of the new season. A highlight of last week’s performance was the closing 66, and I am confident he will carry that momentum. At a course that favours big hitters, Burns will certainly fancy his chances, ranking 8th for Driving Distance on tour last season. Burns has also started this season by hitting 77% of GIR over two events, and complements this approach play with a putting average of 1.589. If he can carry this type of performance over to a third tournament in row, a first PGA Tour win would not be out of the question.
Cameron Davis – 1pt e/w @ 55/1 with bet365
Davis ended the 2020 season in superb form to make the first FedEx Cup play-offs event, and arrives this week with a great chance to secure his first PGA Tour victory. The Australian kicked off the new campaign with a solid performance at the Safeway Open, and finished T28 in this event last year. Statistically, he fits the bill of a player who plays well here, ranking 20th in Driving Distance last season and 41st in GIR. As one of the most promising players on tour yet to win an event, Davis will surely be a popular pick this week.
Tyler McCumber – 0.5pt e/w @ 150/1 with bet365
Tyler McCumber shot up the leaderboard on Sunday in the Dominican Republic to finish second with a closing 66, and he has a chance to follow that up here at a huge price. McCumber ranked 12th for Driving Distance on tour last season, and arriving at a course where he can let rip may play into his hands. This is a cautious selection, hence the small stakes, but I am prepared to gamble on McCumber in the hope that Sunday’s form carries over and that he fares better with a second crack at an event where he missed the cut last season.
