Electronic Arts have announced World Number One Rory McIlroy as the new face and namesake of its golf franchise, which will now be titled EA SPORTS Rory McIlroy PGA TOUR.
The 25-year old Northern Irishman will lend his likeness to the game, which features a number of the world’s finest golf courses – including 2015 Open venue, St. Andrews.
Woods ended his 15 year association with the game franchise in 2013, and it is clear that the video game giants are now aiming for a younger demographic by making Rory the face of the video game.
The game will be released later this year in June. McIlroy, a 4-time Major champion and top-ranked golfer in the world, represents a new generation of players for a new generation of consoles.
Available: June 2015 (available on Playstation 4 & Xbox One consoles)
