Who to back at the RBC Heritage

Suffering from post-Augusta blues? So is our resident betting expert. But he’s hoping the action at Harbour Town can help brighten his mood

RBC Heritage betting: Steve’s each-way bets

Luke Donald’s best days are gone but the Englishman seems to put the week-to-week toil aside at the RBC Heritage.

How else can you explain how he manages to rouse himself year after year at Harbour Town?

Even though he has never won this tournament, his record is ultra consistent and demands you consider him at 60/1.

From 2009, he has finished 2-3-2-37-3-2-15-2-2. It’s remarkable, particularly given his world ranking has slipped from the summit to just inside the top 200.

Donald’s strengths are made for this course. It demands exceptional putting and short game skills, both of which he still possesses in abundance.

It’s short in comparison with some of the tour’s other layouts – helpful since he ranks 176th on tour in driving distance.

Webb Simpson had a promising weekend at Augusta, finishing with rounds of 70 and 67 as he cracked the top 20.

The American was runner-up at Harbour Town in 2013 and 11th last year. That bodes well given he’s put together some nice work on the PGA Tour this season.

Top five in Hawaii and at the Honda Classic, he posted another top 10 at the Valspar before recovering from an opening 76 at The Masters in style. You can get him at 33/1.

RBC Heritage betting

Sticking with the horses for courses theme, Willie McGirt has enjoyed some very nice results at the RBC Heritage.

Third last year, he also recorded top 10s in 2016 and 2014. He’s had a week off after missing the cut at the Houston Open but was top 20 at the Valspar. He also showed some promising form at the start of the season.

At 75/1, and with up to eight places being offered, he could give us a run for our money.
