Q&A: James Morrison tells us his ‘Best and Worst’

We ask the questions and James Morrison answers them in another from the 'Best and Worst' series..

It’s time for another NCG Best and Worst, this time with European Tour player James Morrison.

We were speaking to James at the Paul Laurie matchplay event at Archerfield in which he finished third.

James Morrison: A Bio

James took an unusual route to the top of European golf, not seriously playing the game until he was 16. Until that point he had focused on cricket, playing in the same England youth teams as Alastair Cook, Ravi Bopara and Tim Bresnan, but went from an 18 handicap to scratch in less than a year and earned a golf scholarship to the University of South Carolina.

He returned home to play first on the Europro Tour and then the Challenge Tour, having turned professional after the 2006 Qualifying School Final Stage. He comfortably kept his card for three seasons following graduation, but endured a disappointing 2013 and could only finish 139th in the Race to Dubai. However James bounced straight back by claiming the 11th card at the Qualifying School, continued to improve in 2014 and won his second title in May 2015, at the Open de España. A steady final round 69 gave him a four shot victory at Real Club de Golf El Prat, making up for five years earlier, when he lost out to Alvaro Quiros in a play-off in Seville.

So far in 2016 James has competed in 22 events and had four top 10 finishes accumulating almost half a million pounds in prize money.
