Here's a look at the latest spikeless golf shoes from Puma
The latest golf footwear announced by Puma is causing quite a stir in the golfing community and beyond. In addition to the special edition colourway already released as part of the “Play Loose” collection, Puma has announced a further four colourways to be expected in early 2019. Here’s everything you need to know about the Puma Ignite NXT spikeless shoe.
2019 PUMA Ignite NXT Styles Announced
Puma is known around the world for their iconic golf footwear. They’ve attracted high profile brand ambassadors including Rickie Fowler and Bryson DeChambeau – who are both regularly seen wearing Puma footwear on tour. Their latest foray into the world of spikeless golf shoes is likely to attract widespread attention, simply because there is no reason to say you can’t wear these shoes on and off the golf course.
The last time Puma released a spikeless golf shoe, it quickly became a best seller. Their latest offering looks like it will be no different. If anything, Puma may have upped their game. The Puma Ignite NXT golf shoes feature the distinctive ‘solelace’ technology which offers optimal stability and ground feel due to the unique design. The reflective laces are attached to the midsole, meaning that the laces grip the upper, midsole and outsole all at once. This design has been tried and tested in other Puma sneakers to great success.
What is Solelace?
According to the Puma designers, “‘Solelace’ features super strong and lightweight TPU units attached directly to the midsole – allowing the laces of the shoes to completely envelop a golfer’s foot, offering 360-degree support.” But what does this mean for your game? In short, it means greater stability without sacrificing flexibility. You’ll be able to feel the way your foot is touching the floor, allowing you to make small adjustments that ultimately impact your swing.
This is explained further by the Puma team: “In addition, the design allows the laces of the shoes to pull the midsole and outsole of the shoe via the ‘Solelace’ units, rather than the laces simply tightening the upper around the foot like in a traditional shoe.” For those interested in getting the best possible fit for their shoe, and particularly those with wide or narrow feet, this means you’ll have greater control over how tight or loose you wear your shoes.
Flat-knit mesh upper
This stability is further enhanced with the flat-knit waterproof mesh vamp upper. Past Puma golf shoes have been criticised for their lack of stability, but this unique fabric upper removes all doubts. The waterproof mesh upper not only provides first class performance but also makes these particular shoes look effortlessly sleek. They will look just as stylish on and off the golf course, and we expect many non-golfers will be just as willing to give them a look.
Spikeless outer sole
To round off the whole Puma Ignite NXT package, we arrive at the spikeless sole. Creating a spikeless sole that offers similar levels of stability and comfort is no mean feat, but it is one that Puma has seemingly achieved with ease. The Pro-Form TPU outside is made up of over 100 hexagonal lugs which creates a flexible lattice work on the sole of the shoe. This provides incredible flexibility and targeted traction. They’re also highly robust and comfortable enough for everyday wear thanks to the moulded insole that also provides a pop of colour.
Sneakerheads everywhere will rejoice at the colourways on offer. Choose from a grey and violet blend; an effortlessly stylish navy colour called ‘peacoat’; the ‘burnt olive’ variant with its distinct red sole; or the classic black with grey marl mesh upper. Each colourway features the iconic Puma logo on the back on in the middle of the sole.
