Mickelson using TaylorMade SLDR driver
Phil Mickelson was spotted using a TaylorMade SLDR driver at the Presidents Cup.
The American, who is contracted with Callaway, used a blacked-out version of the new club at Muirfield Village after being given the green light by his sponsors.
According to GolfWRX, the brand told the left-hander he was free to use whatever driver he wished as they were still working on their forward-CG driver.
The World No 3 is notoriously difficult to fit into a driver due to his various struggles with the club and he regularly swaps between Callaway’s current models and a deep-faced, strong-lofted 3 wood. The TaylorMade SLDR features an adjustable weight system close to the face to reduce spin and, although suitable for a wide range of players, it is particularly suited to better players who launch the ball high, like Mickelson.
