Bad weather cut short the second round of the 2015 US PGA Championship and Tiger Woods was among those hoping to finish with a flourish early on Saturday and make the weekend.

He failed to improve on his overnight score of +4 and has now missed the cut in three of the year’s four Majors.

Open Champion Zach Johnson had a good record at Whistling Straits and, just like Rory did last year, was looking for back-to-back majors.

Playing alongside the top two players in the world, Johnson failed to get involved and left us on +3 with rounds of 75 and 72.

Marc Leishman usually does pretty well in Majors right? The Australian was tied with Johnson after 72 holes at The Open but needed to set his sights higher this time around as he also slipped away at +3 despite a 68 on Friday.

It was always a big ask for Shane Lowry to follow up his superb WGC win and he too was in the large group of players to finish on +3 alongside Bernd Wiesberger, Padraig Harrington and John Senden.

It’s been a disappointing year in the Majors for Jimmy Walker and that trend continued as he finished +4 alongside Woods.

Graeme McDowell’s poor season continues and England’s Tommy Fleetwood is yet to make his mark in the US as the pair crashed out on +5.

Ian Poulter claimed he had found his putting stoke at Firestone last week but unfortunately didn’t bring it to Wisconsin. He was joined by countryman Andy Sullivan, Colin Montgomerie and Miguel Angel Jimenez on +6.

One of the big disappointments was Adam Scott. Could this be the last time we see the 2013 Masters Champion putting with the broom handle putter? It should be, and after a score of +7 over the opening two rounds now seems like a good time to get serious with a shorter stick.

If you’d backed Joost Luiten, Stephen Gallacher, Thongchai Jaidee, Alexander Levy, Eddie Pepperell, Jamie Donaldson or Darren Clarke then you probably don’t need me to tell you that your boy isn’t going to be in the mix over the weekend.

Final word goes to John Daly who managed a 10 (TEN) on the par-3 7th which included his best swing of the day… to launch his club into Lake Michigan. His second round 82 left him on +11.
