One thing I would really like to do is hole more six footers – wouldn’t we all? – so I’ve called in European Tour player Paul Waring to give me some short putting tips.
I visited Paul at his home club Bromborough on the Wirral where he took me through a drill that will help get the ball in the hole from that niggly little range that so many of us fret over.
Short putting tips: Key point
One of the things Paul suggested was closing your left eye at address – right eye if you are a left-hander – as this takes the hole out of your peripheral vision and allows you to put your focus on the stroke.

About Paul Waring
Paul Waring had a stellar amateur career which included winning the English Amateur in 2005 before turning pro in 2007.
He earned his European Tour card at Q School the same year and, after a third-place finish at the 2013 Portugal Masters and a runner-up spot at the 2017 Joburg Open, Paul got his breakthrough in his 200th start, winning the 2018 Nordea Masters.
Paul’s CV also boasts a top 20 at the Open Championship.
