About Anna Nordqvist
Swedish golfer Anna Nordqvist, a star on both the LET and LPGA tours, is a one-time Major winner.
She was just 22 and in her rookie year when she claimed her only Major title to date – the LPGA Championship.
Nordqvist finished four strokes ahead of Lindsey Wright at the Bulle Rock Golf Course in Maryland to claim $300,000 in prize money.
The current world No 19’s rise to the top of the women’s game was helped largely by a highly successful amateur career.
She was named Swedish Junior Player of the Year (2004 and 2005), 2005 Swedish Amateur of the Year and won the Girls’ British Open Amateur Championship in 2005.
In 2006, Nordqvist finished as runner-up at the British Amateur Championship and won the European Team Amateur with Sweden.
The now 28-year-old picked up an array of honours while attending Arizona State University before clinching the 2008 Ladies British Open Amateur and representing Sweden at the World Amateur Team Championships in 2008, which they won.
She made the cut at both the 2007 and 2008 RICOH Women’s British Open and earned low amateur honours in 2008.
Nordqvist turned professional in 2008 after successfully navigating the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament. In January 2009, she won the Ladies European Tour Final Qualifying School.
As well as winning her first Major, she was also victorious in the season-ending LPGA Tour Championship in her rookie season in 2009.
Nordqvist has performed consistently well at the top of the women’s game in the years since, making the majority of cuts and racking up several titles.
She has seven professional wins to her name, five on the LPGA and two on the LET.
Nordqvist is also one of the veterans on the European Solheim Cup team, making the team for the last four tournaments in a row.
