Made in Denmark preview
The Made in Denmark is always one of the highlights of the European Tour schedule, but we’re heading to a new venue this time around as the event moves away from the ever-popular Himmerland Resort to Silkeborg Ry Golf Club which is just 30 minutes from Aarhus.
Playing as a par 72 at just shy of 7,000 yards, this is one of the shorter tests that the players will face all year. What it may lack in length, it more than makes up for in tight tree-lined fairways which should put a premium on accuracy from the tee rather than powerful hitting.
It’s the final tournament before the first eight players of the European Ryder Cup team are announced, and that’s particularly significant for the likes of Matthew Fitzpatrick and Eddie Pepperell who can both play their way into the team with a win this week depending on how tournament favourite Thorbjorn Olesen gets on.
Made in Denmark betting tips
It’s always hard to find winners when events come to new golf courses, but if we are to assume that Silkeborg will indeed suit an accurate player from the tee, then we should look no further than Gaganjeet Bhullar (66/1, 6 places).
The Indian regularly finds himself near the top of the driving accuracy stats and, while he’s one of the shorter players from the tee, he ended up finishing 7th last week on the mammoth Albatross in the Czech Republic.
That was a fine performance, but in truth he was merely continuing his excellent form of late.
The 30-year-old has been racking up the top-10 finishes on the Asian Tour and then made the most of his start in the Fiji International at the beginning of the month by claiming his first win on the European Tour, even though many were probably unaware.
So that’s Keel’s top tip to win in Denmark – but where does he think you can really make some money? Find out on the next page…
