About Minjee Lee
Australian Minjee Lee is a former world No 1 amateur golfer and is now a rising star on the LPGA – at the age of just 20.
Listed as the most memorable golfing moment on her official website, Lee, who only just turned 20 today, fondly remembers sinking the winning putt to clinch the US Girls’ Junior Championship in 2012.
Her stock continued to rise when she won the Australian Women’s Amateur Championship in 2013 and then successfully defended the title in 2014.
She became the number one ranked amateur golfer in February 2014 after winning the Oates Victorian Open on the ALPG Tour.
Lee turned professional in September 2014 after helping the Australia team to win the Espirito Santo Trophy. She finished as co-medalist at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn her tour card for 2015.
The current world No 12 was the only amateur to compete in the inaugural International Crown in 2014 when she represented Australia.
She was the low amateur at the 2014 Kraft Nabisco Championship and made her professional debut at the 2014 Evian Championship, finishing in a tie for 16th.
Lee has won twice on the LPGA Tour. She romped to victory at the 2015 Kingsmill Championship and then won this year’s Lotte Championship.
