WITB: Joost Luiten – Oman Open
Joost Luiten relied on a mix of the old and the new as he clinched a sixth European Tour win in Oman.
The flying Dutchman used to be a full Titleist staff player until he signed a metalwoods deal with TaylorMade a couple of years ago.
But he still uses Titleist irons, wedges, ball and putter.
We’ve seen a raft of victories for the new TaylorMade M3 and M4 drivers in 2018 but Luiten still favours the 2017 M2 driver.
The 32-year-old is not one for chopping and changing his gear so is still using last year’s M2 Tour 3-wood as well.
His hybrid – or rescue as TaylorMade like to call them – is the R15 which is a good three or four years old now.
We did see Luiten playing the 718 AP3 irons at the PGA Championship last year but he has now settled on the forged cavity CB models.
And he is one of the many players using the brand new Vokey SM7 wedges which have been the number one wedge on the PGA Tour pretty much every week since they were introduced.
Luiten favours the Titleist Pro V1 ball and uses a Newport-style Scotty Cameron putter.
His shoes are the FootJoy HyperFlex II.
