He’s a Srixon staffer but he has something of a mixed bag. Hannah Holden takes a closer look
Hideki Matsuyama has proudly flown the flag for Japan on the PGA Tour for many years now.
He became the first male golfer from his country to win a major when he won the Masters in 2021, and he is now a nine-time winner on the PGA Tour.
Matsuyama won for the first time on the US circuit at the 2014 Memorial Tournament at Muirfield Village. He has since become one of the most consistent performers in the world and one of the most recognisable figures.
He entered the 2024 season looking to end a two-year winless drought, but he put that to bed with a stunning victory at the Genesis Invitational.
Although he is a Srixon staffer, Matsuyama has a mixed bag of gear – including a range of new and older models.
At the top of his bag, Matsuyama has a Srixon ZX5 Mk II LS driver and a Cobra DarkSpeed LS 3-wood.
As he belongs to Srixon, a set of Z-Forged II irons dominate the middle of his bag with a full set of Cleveland wedges and a Scotty Cameron Prototype putter at the bottom.
