Callaway’s new X2 Hot range will feature a powerful, adjustable driver, irons that are even longer than last year’s and fairways and hybrids that promise to offer new levels of performance.
“Distance, accuracy and forgiveness underpin widespread product introductions in all key categories,” say Callaway. “Advanced technologies creating unprecedented levels of power and performance underline the range.”
The most obvious difference between the X2 Hot and its predecessor comes in the form of an adjustable driver. Callaway’s Optiforce driver, released last summer, was the company’s first to offer adjustable loft and the X2 Hot follows in its footsteps. You can move the loft up by 2˚ and down by 1˚ while choosing a Neutral or Draw face setting to suit your game.
What Callaway’s engineers seem most excited by, though, is their new Hyper Speed Face – which they describe as their “fastest, thinnest and lightest all-titanium driver face ever”.
On the fairway woods, a Hyper Speed Face Cup design offers fast ball speeds while a ‘modern warbird’ sole design takes Callaway’s vintage playability to new levels.
Callaway claim they have made a real breakthrough with the X2 Hot hybrid, where a “quantum leap in performance” is promised thanks to a new face design that they say brings driver-level springiness. What is more, where the original version of this hybrid was let down in some golfers’ opinions by its looks, the successor is much more easy on the eye.
Last but certainly not least come the irons – which promise to be up to five yards longer than even the X Hots thanks to a large undercut channel behind the face that allows it to flex and rebound.
The woods are fitted as standard with a a new Aldila Tour Blue shaft that is designed to offer a higher launch angle with low spin and optimum trajectory for huge distance.
The driver, fairway, hybrid and irons are all available in Pro versions – aimed squarely at the better player. The driver, fairway, hybrid and irons are all available in Pro versions – aimed squarely at the better player.
The Pro driver has a smaller, 440c head with more neutral bias designed for more workability and low spin.
The Pro fairway is fitted with an Aldila Tour Green shaft, while the Pro hybrid
has a thinner, lighter and more robust 455 carpenter steel face cup design for faster ballspeeds across the entire face.
Finally, the Pro irons have become longer, more forgiving and offer better feel.
