Need help with your Genesis Open Fantasy Golf picks?

Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered with a run down of the big names, value for money players and sleeper picks for the PGA Tour event at Riviera Country Club.

There are prizes up for grabs every week courtesy of Teeofftimes.co.uk, so it’s never too late to register.

Before you head over to our Fantasy Golf page to pick your players, read who you should be considering for this week…

Genesis Open Fantasy Golf picks

The PGA Tour moves to The Riviera Country Club this week following Phil Mickelson’s 50th career win at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am last week.

There’s strong field in town with the likes of Tiger Woods, Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy all returning to action in California.

The aim of our fantasy game this year is to pick the right players to match the RankBuster. This week’s is set at 206 so who can you fit in your team to beat it? Here are my Genesis Open Fantasy Golf picks.

Xander Schauffele

Fantasy Rank: 7

Schauffele is one of the inform players on the PGA Tour so far this season and has won two events since the end of October.

The American hasn’t found himself outside the top 25 in his last six starts and also carries some course form into the event as he recorded a top 10 on his debut here last year.

Paul Casey

Fantasy Rank: 13

Casey comes off the back of the fantastic second place finish on the Monterrey Peninsula where he held the lead going into the final round.

The Englishman’s previous start before Pebble Beach was at the Singapore Open where he finished T2. Casey will be looking to turn his fortunes around at Riviera but when a ball striker like himself is in form you’d expect him to be battling it out at the top of the leaderboard this week.

Rafa Cabrera Bello

Fantasy Rank: 26

The Spaniard was in the mix for most of the week last week but faded away at Pebble Beach with a final round of 76.

He’s also another player who recorded a good finish on his tournament debut with a top 30 and I always like to pick Cabrera Bello when the big names are playing as he’s always good value pick.

Keegan Bradley

Fantasy Rank: 34

As I stated in this week’s betting tips, Bradley has actually been playing well over his last few starts but hasn’t been able to get the putter going. The stats backed this up at the Phoenix Open where Bradley ranked well in strokes gained with his approach shots but ranked near the bottom of the putting statistics.

If he can find success on the greens the American will find himself at the right end of the leaderboard this week.

Ryan Moore

Fantasy Rank: 58

Ryan Moore comes into this event as a major sleeper having missed having his last two cuts.

I always like to pick a player who has the potential to gain points on other players by having a low selection and Moore fits the bill, especially when he has recorded four top 30s in his last six starts at Riviera.

Chris Stroud

Fantasy Rank: 70

Chris Stroud is a player who has hit a purple patch over the past couple of weeks.

The American has had a pair of top 10s at two events with strong fields and looks a fantastic pick for this week if you’re trying to find a long shot for your team.

Matthew Beedle

National Club Golfer and National Club Golfer magazine

Matthew has been playing golf since he was around 13 and took up the game at a local nine-hole municipal course with his friends before joining Pontefract & District Golf Club just over the hedge.

Still a member of Pontefract with a handicap of 3, he currently sits on the board of directors to help with digital and marketing initiatives in order to improve membership and visitor income.

Matthew graduated university with a First Class in Sports Journalism from Leeds Trinity University and has been working in the golf industry since graduating.

NCG’s social media & marketing manager, Matthew’s main job role is to increase website traffic to the National Club Golfer website via our email and social media channels as well as driving entries to grow our NCG Top 100s Tour events amongst other tasks.

Not one to change his equipment too often, Matthew currently plays the TaylorMade M2 driver which has lasted the test of time in his bag. Elsewhere, you’ll find him using the TaylorMade Stealth 2 three-wood with a Ping G425 Crossover 2-iron to aid his long game.

Through his 4-iron to Gap Wedge, Matthew uses the Ping i500 irons accompanied by Ping’s Glide 3.0 56-degree and 60-degree wedges.

Another club that has stood the test of time in his bag is a Nike Method Core MC-3i putter which has had to have the SuperStroke grip changed at least three times. Ball of choice is the Titleist ProV1.
