WITB: Gary Woodland – Phoenix Open
Gary Woodland secured his first win since August 2013 when he beat Chez Reavie in a play-off at the Waste Management Phoenix Open.
And, as you can imagine, there has been some pretty significant equipment changes since then.
Woodland was a Callaway staffer when he last tasted victory but now is a free-agent when it comes to his clubs.
Five years ago his bag looked like this:
Driver: Callaway RAZR Hawk Proto
Fairway: Callaway RAZR Fit Xtreme
Utility: Callaway X Prototype Tour Utility
Irons (3-9): Callaway RAZR X Muscleback
Wedges: Titleist Vokey Design SM4
Putter: Odyssey Versa #1 Wide
Ball: Callaway HEX Chrome+
So what does a free-agent’s bag in 2018 look like?
It’s no surprise to see a new TaylorMade M3 on the go making it five wins in five weeks for the new ‘twist face’ drivers.

Woodland’s win adds to victories for Dustin Johnson, Jon Rahm, Tommy Fleetwood and Jason Day.
And we have a couple of the superb 2017 M2 fairway woods.
Woodland’s iron model of choice is the Titleist 718 MB.

Some of the only pieces of equipment the American has stayed true to are his Vokey wedges. He’s now moved into the latest SM7 models but does carry a ‘Phil Mickelson’ Callaway Mack Daddy 3 lob wedge.

He carries a Newport-style Scotty Cameron putter and, like Tiger Woods, plays a Bridgestone golf ball.
