Justin Rose was left with little choice to play this week at Colonial Country Club rather than tee it up in the European Tour’s flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship.
The Englishman was a victim of the new PGA Tour rule that demands players appear in at least one event in which they have not played in the last four years.
Missing Wentworth would have been tough, but Rose more than made up for it as he put in a dominant display to capture his 22nd worldwide victory, and ninth PGA Tour title.
Starting the day with a four-shot lead, Rose was relentless as he made eight birdies to win by three shots to Brooks Koepka, who was equally impressive on the day.
Rose went out in 30, which included six birdies, to all but seal the title. His playing partner, Koepka, was putting in quite the charge, though. His only bogey would come at the final hole to sign for a 63. The two were a combined 13-under-par for the round.
