FootJoy Women’s HydroLite Jacket review: First Impressions

Wow, how good is this colour? I love the bright block of colour that FootJoy are calling ‘Fig’ but if you want something more neutral you will be pleased to hear this is also available in black and navy. Overall I like the simplicity of the design and the subtle shaping details and this has quickly become my go to rain jacket.

FootJoy Women’s HydroLite Jacket review: On The Course

I am 5ft 4, and wear a UK size 10 top. The medium size fitted very nicely. In fact, this is probably the best-fitting and most comfortable waterproof jacket I have ever owned. FootJoy have really thought about the little details here and it has made a huge difference.

FootJoy Women's HydroLite Jacket review

Firstly, the body of the jacket is slightly longer than usual with splits on the side. This means you don’t have to worry about a jacket that sits too tightly on the hips. The elasticated cinch waist is really flattering but it also means there is no excess material hanging in front of my body when I am trying to swing which was excellent. There is plenty of room in the shoulders and across the back so there is no restriction of movement in your swing. Also the sleeves have adjustable cuffs so you don’t end up with excess material in the way of your grip.

These things all sound simple but I have had so many jackets in the past that I would only wear in between shots as I wasn’t fully comfortable swinging in it. This couldn’t be further from the truth with this jacket.

This also has a lightweight design so it doesn’t feel too heavy or restrictive. I really like this as it means it can be used all year round regardless of the temperature rather than strictly being a winter-only piece of equipment. It also means it packs down small so fits easily in your golf bag.

FootJoy Women’s HydroLite Jacket review: The 19th hole

A waterproof jacket is by nature not the most versatile piece of kit. And to be honest, this jacket is so nice, I just want to keep it for use on the golf course. If I was popping somewhere after golf though and had this on I wouldn’t be worried about swapping it into something else as I really like the modern design and don’t think it is too ‘golfy’ to be worn in other environments.
