Bubba Watson’s victory at the WGC-HSBC Champions in Shanghai marked a first win for the new Titleist ProV1x prototype golf ball.

Playing the new ball for the first time in competition, Watson edged Titleist Brand Ambassador Tim Clark (Pro V1) at the first extra hole to become the first player to use the new prototype Pro V1x to winning effect.

Watson was joined in the winners’ circle by three further players who also trusted the performance, quality and consistency of Titleist golf balls to claim victories on the Asian Tour, PGA Tour LatinoAmerica, and South Africa Tour respectively.

Watson claimed his third victory of 2014 in the most dramatic fashion, first holing a bunker shot on the 72nd hole for eagle and then converting a lengthy birdie putt on the first hole of a sudden-death play-off after tying with Tim Clark on 11-under par.

Clark trusted a host of Titleist equipment in his bag to finish second in Shanghai, including the Pro V1 golf ball, 913D3 driver, 915F fairway metal, 915H hybrid, CB irons, Vokey Design SM4 pitching and sand wedges and Vokey Design SM5 lob wedge.

As well as the champion who put the new Titleist Pro V1x prototype into play for the first time in China, Titleist golf ball loyalist Ian Poulter also trusted the new Pro V1x prototype to finish tied for 6th, and Titleist Brand Ambassador Marc Leishman also put the new Pro V1x prototype into play to finish 9th.

Fellow golf ball loyalists Hunter Mahan and Jordan Spieth also played the new Pro V1x prototype golf ball for the first time.
