First Look: Callaway Big Bertha Hybrids
5 The new Big Bertha Hybrids from Callaway incorporate adjustability for the first time to help golfers from a wider range of abilities launch the ball higher and further.
With four loft and two lie angle options in each club, it is now much easier to get the hybrid dialled in and gapped properly for your bag.
It features a Speed Frame Face which is light and robust offering fast ball speeds right across the face.
The centre of gravity (CG) is low and forgiving, offering the full package of high MOI for maximum forgiveness and ball speed.
An adjustable hosel lets golfers choose from a combination of eight different loft (-1, S, +1, +2) and lie angles (Draw or Neutral) to find optimised trajectory and shot shape.
The adjustably in the hosel is a big advantage when it comes to fitting the hybrid in with your existing irons Alan Hocknell, Callaway’s head of R&D, believes the adjustability will really help the ‘average golfer’.
“We are very excited about the Big Bertha Hybrids because this is our first fully adjustable hybrid,” he said.
“We’ve got the forged cup face technology as used in the X2 Hot but we’ve changed it slightly to make it more playable by the average golfer.
“We’ve moved some of the weight back to make it easier to launch and improve trajectory which will result in more distance.
“The adjustably in the hosel is a big advantage when it comes to fitting the hybrid in with your existing irons. When you’ve found which iron you are replacing you can make sure the gapping is going to work for you.
“So overall there’s extra distance from the cup face technology, larger MOI, more forgiveness and the ability to dial in the performance of the club to suit your bag.”
