East Midlands: Flying high with Norwood Park
Norwood Park Golf Centre has raised over £8,000 this year in aid of Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire Air Ambulance and Nottinghamshire Hospice.
The charities were chosen by Norwood Park’s captains, Lynne Ellis and Lee Molloy and a fund-raising Grand Auction took place recently at the club’s presentation evening.
Ellis said: “We have been overwhelmed by the support we have been given by members, visitors and local businesses. This is the most we have ever raised at Norwood and special thanks must go to all the staff anne their suppliers who helped contribute a great deal to the total.
This season Norwood’s scratch team finished runners up in Division One NUGC, the mixed team reached the final of the NUGC Interclub Foursomes and our Ladies Silver Team won their league NCLGA.
‘The centre also won national awards. What a great year for us at Norwood.’ Norwood Park has had an additional reason to celebrate this year after achieving national recognition by England Golf and finishing runner-up in the Golfmark Club of the Year and winner of the Golf Foundation award.
Among the winners at the presentation evening was gents club champion Sam Buckle (gross), who also set a new course record this year. Club champion Lee Molloy (net) also won the gents medal and gents pairs with Grant Lee.
Ladies champions were Amy Oxbury (gross) and Lynne Inman (net).
