Dustin Johnson’s Masters in doubt after ‘serious fall’
The World No. 1 took a tumble at his Augusta rental home and he may be out of the Masters.
Dustin Johnson has suffered a lower-back injury on the eve of the Masters following a “serious fall” at his Augusta rental home.
World No. 1 Johnson, who has won in each of his last three PGA Tour starts was a heavy pre-tournament favourite with the bookmakers but his chances of winning a green jacket on Sunday have been thrust into doubt.
The 32-year-old’s agent David Winkle confirmed the news: “At roughly 3pm today [local time], Dustin took a serious fall on a staircase in his Augusta rental home.
“He landed very hard on his lower back and is now resting, although quite uncomfortably. He has been advised to remain immobile and begin a regimen of anti-inflammatory medication and icing, with the hope of being able to play [on Thursday].”
