Driver test results: Titleist 915 D3 video review

Driver test results: Titleist 915 D3 video review

This is Titleist's most playable driver yet. Classic looks and added forgiveness

First impressions: There’s very little to separate the 915 D3 and D2 apart as far as the look is concerned.

The D3 has a slightly more compact look to suit the better player but both have the same ne technologies aimed at increasing ball speed right across the face.

The look at address has everything you’d expect from a Titleist driver. It’s a players club. Just ask Adam Scott, Jordan Spieth and Ian Poulter et al…

What they say: The improved performance of Titleist 915 drivers is the result of three key advancements:

  • The Active Recoil Channel, a long, wide and deep sole channel that actively flexes at impact and recoils to launch the ball off the face with higher speed and lower spin;
  • A high-speed forged face insert which helps increase ball speed on off-centre hits
  • A precise, high-MOI design with a low and deep centre of gravity location that delivers stability and forgiveness by preserving off-centre ball speed for more distance, more often.

Consider this if you love the Titleist looks but didn’t previously trust the forgiveness levels" 19456|c:520x330.img

NCG Verdict: This driver was a revelation for me in terms of playability.

It may look like a Titleist driver but it doesn’t perform like one. It’s much livelier, the sound is a bit different and for me it launches a little higher.

However, it is on the mis-strikes where it really excels. This driver must be considered if you want a playable, forgiving driver which really looks the part.

It’s only a quibble but I preferred the old alignment aid.
