Who to back at the AT&T Byron Nelson

Who to back at the AT&T Byron Nelson

Our resident betting tipster is back with three players to follow at the AT&T Byron Nelson on the PGA Tour

We have a new golf course this week for the AT&T Byron Nelson, as the tournament moves from TPC Four Seasons to the brand new Trinity Forest Golf Club in Dallas, Texas.

This course looks an absolute stunner; having opened only two years ago, it appears to be a true links test – a far cry from the usual layouts we see week in and week out on the PGA Tour.

There are a very few trees, and as we’re in Texas, expect plenty of wind due to the exposed nature.

AT&T Byron Nelson betting: Keel’s each-way bets

I was surprised to see quotes of 60/1 about Brandt Snedeker, a proven winner and a player that has no trouble playing in high winds.

The eight-time PGA Tour winner hasn’t really been up to much since he made his comeback from injury at the tail-end of last season, but he’s hardly been playing poorly with a couple of top-30 finishes scattered among some missed cuts.

A 15th place at the Valero Texas Open last month was the most promising of the lot, and if we’re to see Snedeker contend again this season, it’s likely to come here in this weak field.

Form figures of five straight missed cuts are hardly inspiring, but Kelly Kraft might be worth an each-way dart at 150/1.

Those missed cuts don’t exactly paint the full picture, though. In that stretch, the highest score he’s posted has been a 76 – hardly a terrible round. Kraft has only been missing the cut by minimal shots, so his price may be inflated heading into this week.

Kraft won the 2011 US Amateur Championship at Erin Hills – a golf course that, visually, looks not too dissimilar to this week’s layout.

Having grown up in Texas, attended college in Texas, and currently residing in Texas, there’s a high chance that the 29-year-old has teed it up once or twice around Trinty Forest.

Admittedly, that’s a big step to make, but there’s plenty going in his favour. He’s even gone close on the PGA Tour a couple of times this season, most recently with a 3rd place in the Dominican Republic, and he even managed an 8th place in the strong field at the Honda Classic.
