Best Ladies Golf Waterproof Jackets

Ping Freda

5 star review
Best Ladies Golf Waterproofs

RRP £120

The Ping Freda is a full zip waterproof jacket that features two zip pockets on each side with additional velcro strips to provide further protection. Made from 100% polyester this jacket is incredibly lightweight and with Ping’s integrated SensorDry technology it is also very breathable.

In terms of fit I wore this in my regular top size which is a UK size 12. It certainly wasn’t too tight or difficult to swing in which is great. I liked that it didn’t feel too heavy on but also provided a bit of warmth so that if you didn’t want to wear a mid layer under you wouldn’t be too cold. The Freda jacket has velco on the cuffs so that they can be adjusted to your preferred fit. There are also toggles on the bottom cuff on the jacket on the inside so that you can alter the fit there.

And well, the last big question and probably the most important to answer…yes, its waterproof! I wore this during a round with some heavy rain and I can confidently report that this jacket kept me comfortably dry. If this isn’t reassuring enough this jacket comes with a  year waterproof guarantee from Ping.

This jacket would double up working well both on and off of the course thanks to its tame design that doesn’t scream golf.

PROS:

  • Fits well and has adjustable toggles inside
  • Velcro and zips on pockets
  • Great range of colours

CONS:

  • None

Colours: White/Black, Flame/Black, Aquatic/Scuba Blue, Oxford Blue/White, Rosebud/White

Sizes: UK 6-20

FootJoy Hydrolite

5 star review
Best Ladies Golf Waterproofs

RRP £169.99

The HydroLite jacket from FootJoy really does live up to its title. This is one of the thinnest and lightest waterproof jackets that I’ve ever tried. The design is slightly unique as the elasticated waistband cinched the waist with the lower half of the jacket skirting out.

I wore this jacket in a medium which as a UK size 12 was perfect. Thanks to the thin design make up I could comfortably wear a mid-layer under it without effect my swing. There is no way of adjusting this jacket, but the elasticised waistband does provide some leeway.

There is no lining on the inside of this jacket, so it feels very plasticated. On the outside, a DWR coating has been used which helps to repel 20000mm of water which is very impressive. It held up very well in the rain I encouraged and for extra reassurance FJ provides a 3-year waterproof guarantee.

Not only is this a great look on the course but the plain block colour design with a simple FJ logo on the upper back means that it could be easily worn off the course.

PROS:

  • Zip pockets
  • Very lightweight
  • Easy to store
  • 100% waterproof

CONS:

  • Might not be everyone’s style

Colours:  Black, Navy, Fig

Sizes: XS-XXL

Puma Drylbl Rain Jacket

4.5 star review
Best Ladies Golf Waterproofs

RRP £150

For Autumn 2023, Puma has added waterproof jackets to their apparel line-up for the first time.

The Puma DRYLBL Rain Jacket has a very simple and smart black design. While overall I like this I do think it could be slightly more feminine in its shaping.

The material and styling were very comfortable, and I like the fact the wrists have added adjustability so you can make sure there is nothing interfering with your grip and swing.

There is also an element of stretch to the main material meaning you keep your range of movement throughout the swing.

I have been out in this on a few rainy days, and it has kept me warm and dry so this is a great option to keep you protected from the elements.

I am generally a UK size 8/10 in tops, but I ordered this in a medium to allow for layers underneath. While it does fit it is definitely on the large side, so I could of sized down easily. It is worth trying this on before buying or going down a size.

PROS:

  • Waterproof
  • Subtle stylish design

CONS:

  • Could have more shape

Sizes: XS-XXL
Colours: Black

Sunderland Whisperdry Aurora jacket

5 star review
Best Ladies Golf Waterproofs

RRP £170

Last year I tested the Killy waterproof jacket from Sunderland which has been in my bag all year. This year I mixed it up with the Aurora jacket in the gorgeous pink haze colourway. This is quite a bit lighter than the Killy jacket and features a hood which can either been worn out or rolled up and stored.

I wore this jacket in a medium which is my standard size as a UK 12 in tops. On the inside there is adjustable toggles on the bottom seem, in the pocket and for the hood. There are velcro straps on the sleeve cuffs too. The Aurora jacket has a pocket on either side which have zips which sealed seems.

I recently wore this jacket during several wet rounds, despite encountering some heavy downpours, water never seeped through. Even when it wasn’t raining this was a jacket lightweight jacket to throw on for some added warmth. At the back of the jacket, there is a panel that when lifted exposes a mesh area for added breathability.

Overall, I’ve really enjoyed wearing this jacket both on and off of the course and I know it will continue to get plenty more wear!

PROS:

  • Fits really nicely
  • Unique concept
  • Has belt loops
  • Lightweight

CONS:

  • None

Colours:  Navy, Pink Haze, Purple

Sizes: S-XXL

Stromberg Cignada jacket

4 star review
Best Ladies Golf Waterproofs

RRP £79.99

I really like the overall styling of this, it is very sporty and is a versatile design that could be used for a variety of sports.

The front features two zipped pockets which are great for storing tees and ball markers. There is also an internal valuables pocket so you can keep any valuable items dry and safe.

So far, I have found this very waterproof in both light and heavy rain and that the taped zips also keep water out. This also features a hood which is detachable so you can choose whether you want to use it or not. I have found this very useful in heavy rain especially when walking between shots.

I generally wear a UK size 8/10 top; this is a size 8 and fits comfortably and is still easy to swing in. It also has adjustable toggles on the bottom of the jacket and on the wrist hems so you can adjust the sizing to suit your preferences.

PROS:

  • Very versatile design
  • Hood included
  • Valuables pocket

CONS:

  • None

Colours: Black, Navy, Purple Plum

Sizes: UK 6-18

Abacus Lds PDX waterproof jacket

4 star review
Best Ladies Golf Waterproofs

RRP £249

Abacus primarily lists this jacket as being waterproof but for me this is the ideal all round winter jacket. The wind and water repellent fabric, is PFC free and can resist up to 15000mm of water.

I wore this jacket in my standard uk size 12 and the fit was perfect. There are adjustable toggles on both the bottom seem and around the collar. In terms of swinging in it the stretchable fabric makes it easy to move in however as this jacket is already fairly thick so I wouldn’t put too much under it.

The front of this jacket has a quilted design as it’s filled with padding for extra warmth. The zips on the front of the jacket are waterproof like all of the other seems. The plain block colour design is teamed with Abacus logos and wording which is fairly discrete.

Overall, this is the perfect stand alone jacket for this autumn/winter but it might not be for those players who don’t like thicker waterproof jackets.

PROS:

  • All round winter jacket
  • Water sealed zips
  • Provides warmth

CONS:

  • Might be too bulky for some players

Colours:  Navy, Stone, Black, Peacock Blue

Sizes: XS-XL

Adidas Rain Jacket

5 star review
Best Ladies Golf Waterproofs

RRP £110

I love the fact this isn’t just another plain waterproof jacket. I think Adidas has nailed it with the contrasting colours and how they have used this for detailing.

Waterproofs with a hood seem to really divide opinions but I have found this great for keeping my head dry and face protected when stuck out in showers on the golf course. You can pack this away if you don’t want to use it.

There is adjustability at the waist, on the wrist cuffs and around the hood so you can dial in the sizing.

I generally wear a UK size 8 and got this in a small. I found this was perfect sizing so I could fit a few layers underneath and still swing comfortably.

Now to the big question, is this waterproof? Well it has kept me very dry through the last few months with no problems at all. If you are after a stylish jacket to keep you dry, this is the perfect option.

PROS

  • Lightweight
  • Packs in bag nicely
  • Waterproof

CONS

  • None

Sizes: XS – XL
Colour: Collegiate Navy

Under Armour Strmprf 2.0 Jkt

4.5 star review
Best Ladies Golf Waterproofs

RRP £130

I love the sporty design of this jacket. The touches of pink on this jacket really elevate the design and make this jacket stand out more on the golf course.

I like the fact there is plenty of room in the shoulders of this jacket, so it doesn’t feel restrictive at all when you are swinging.

The jacket hem has adjustable toggles so you can dial in the size at your hips. There is also velcro adjustability around the wrists, which I really like to keep excess material away from your hands and grip.

We have had plenty of rain to test waterproofs in recently, and I can safely say this jacket will keep you dry. It also dries quickly, which is extremely helpful.

I would say this is a jacket you can use all year round as it isn’t very thick. This means it isn’t the warmest in winter, but it can be layered with other jumpers, and it doesn’t make this versatile for spring and summer.

PROS:

  • Stylish Jacket
  • Adjustable
  • Waterproof

CONS:

  • None

Colours: Black
Sizes: XS – XXL

Abacus Ladies Bounce Waterproof Hoodie

5 star review
Best Ladies Golf Waterproofs

RRP £129.95

A golf hoodie… that’s waterproof! This is something I didn’t know I needed in my life until it turned up at my door.

I love the design of this. I tested the white hoodie but Abacus does also offer this in navy. Whilst to the eye the design is very plain there are some smaller details that I liked.

I have to start by saying that this is the most rigorously tested waterproof item I have so far reviewed. I first tested this at Ramside Hall a couple of weeks back whilst playing a practice round for an up-and-coming competition. During that round, the heavens opened several times with nearly all of the occasions being incredibly heavy downpours. At this time I just had a polo under as it was still fairly warm out and I remained completely dry underneath.

I wore this Hoodie in a Medium/UK12 which is my typical top size. There is plenty of room for swinging and general movement.

Overall, this is an excellent piece of golf apparel that will continue to get plenty of wear from me. It works perfectly in a mixture of different weather conditions and can easy to be stored in your golf bag.

PROS:

  • Fully waterproof
  • Easy to swing in
  • Has two pockets
  • Very comfortable

CONS:

  • Nothing!

Colours:  Navy, White

Sizes: XS-XXL

Best Ladies Golf Waterproof Trousers

Ping Juno

5 star review
Best Ladies Golf Waterproofs

RRP £80

The Juno trousers from Ping are the only waterproof trousers they offer, and I can see why. These trousers really tick every box that you would want when it comes to a pair of waterproof trousers.

I wore these in my regular trouser size which is a UK 10. I enjoyed how they fit around the waist and there is an adjustable toggle on the inside, with an elasticated waist band. There is also belt loops on these trousers if you want to add a belt. I am 5ft 8 and wore the regular length which were perfect, but Ping does offer a shorter and longer option depending on your height.

Out on the course, these were enjoyable to wear. There are pockets at the front that have a singular press stud fasten and one back pocket that has velcro patches. Ping states that these Juno trousers are fully stem sealed and with a 3 year waterproof guarantee these are a great addition to any golfer’s wardrobe for this winter.  They held up well in the rain and afterward dried off fairly quickly. As they are so lightweight, they folded down to a reasonably small size, meaning they didn’t take up the entire pocket in my golf bag.

PROS:

  • Fits well and has adjustable toggles inside
  • Has belt loops
  • Lightweight

CONS:

  • None

Colours:  Black

Sizes: UK 6-20

Puma Drylbl Rain Pant

4.5 star review
Best Ladies Golf Waterproofs

RRP £125

These are really comfortable waterproof trousers. I like the high waist design that easily keeps you covered up from the elements.

Lots of waterproof trousers can be very thin, these are slightly on the thicker side which is great for layering and keeping you warm in winter.

They have a snap-close button and side zips on the legs, making these really easy to take on and off whilst you are out on the golf course as necessary.

I am generally a UK size 10, so I ordered these in a medium. While they fit they were slightly on the large side, so I definitely could of sized down slightly.

The most important bit really is these have kept me dry in the recent rainy spell we have had.

Overall I really enjoyed testing these and they will be getting significant use this winter.

PROS:

  • Waterproof
  • Thick enough to add warmth
  • Easy to put on and off

CONS:

  • None

Sizes: XS-XXL

Sunderland Montana

4.5 star review
Best Ladies Golf Waterproofs

RRP £95

The Jade Technical Water Repellent Performance Winter Golf Trousers from Glenmuir as some of the thickest trousers that I have ever tried. The outer has a Teflon DWR finish which has a soft shell feel. Like standard golf trousers, these have two pockets at both the front and back, with diamante studs at the front.

If that isn’t enough sparkle for you, the Glenmuir logo is in silver on the back pocket. Inside, these trousers are lined with brushed fleece which feels nice on the skin.

I wore these trousers in my standard uk size 10 bottoms which around the waist fit well. I’m 5ft 8 and these trousers were in the regular length which unfortunately left me with cold ankles, so I would have been better off with the longer length.

The Jade trousers are also a straight leg/wide fit which isn’t something I would usually go for but that is personal preference.

Overall, these are probably the thickest winter trousers on the market but make sure you check the size guide to achieve your desired fit.

PROS:

  • Thick feel
  • Water repellent
  • Pretty stretchy

CONS:

  • Check the lengths before buying

Colours:  Navy, Black

Sizes: UK 8-18

Stromberg Carlota

4.5 star review
Best Ladies Golf Waterproofs

RRP £59.99

These Stromberg Carlota trousers are an excellent pair of affordable waterproof trousers. The plain black design includes a silver Stromberg logo at both the front and back. There are two front pockets and a back all water-resistant zips & fully taped seams.

My usual trousers size is a uk 10 however these were a uk 8 and I still managed to get in them. There aren’t any belt loops but Stromberg has added in a velcro panel on either hip so that you can alter the fit if desired. On the bottom of the leg is a zip to help with getting them on and off but unlike some waterproofs you can’t tightened the ankle.

I’m 5ft 8 meaning that and these trousers only come in one length. They were slightly on the shorter side but not to the point where they were unwearable.

In terms of being waterproof, yes, they are. Stromberg lists these as being waterproof up to 10000mm which isn’t overly high but on a moderately rainy day these will happily keep you dry.

PROS:

  • Affordable
  • Looks smart
  • Water resistant zipped pockets

CONS:

  • None

Colours: Black

Sizes:  UK 8-18

Abacus Lds Bounce Waterproof trousers

5 star review
Best Ladies Golf Waterproofs

RRP £130

Not everyone likes wearing waterproof trousers but on those dreaded rainy or muddy rounds sometimes it’s unavoidable. The Bounce waterproof trousers are the perfect hybrid for those players as they fit and look just like your standard pair of trousers but are waterproof up to 15000 mp which is very impressive!

The standard trouser design features the usual two front and two back pockets. There is a fly zip with a press stud and velcro fasten. There are also belt loops and the back of the waistband is elasticated. The design is fairly standard and comes in three colours but there is the ‘stretchdry’ wording on the front above the left pocket which is unique but works well. I wore my regular uk size 10 bottoms which fit perfect in all areas. There was plenty of flexibility when bending down and reading putts.

These Bounce trousers don’t have a lining meaning that they’re very lightweight. The sealed seems helped to keep the water out but when the sun came out during the round these trousers did retain the heat meaning that they were a little sticky and not very breathable.

PROS:

  • Fits really nicely
  • Unique concept
  • Has belt loops
  • Lightweight

CONS:

  • None

Colours:  Navy, Grey, Black

Sizes: XS-XXL

More info: Abacus Website

Adidas Rain.RDY tracksuit bottoms

5 star review
Best Ladies Golf Waterproofs

RRP £110

These are ideal waterproof trousers. They are exceptionally easy to get on over trousers or leggings thanks to the draw cord closure at the waist and the zip up the calf.

Primarily, these are designed to keep out the rain and they do a great job of that. I have survived a variety of light and heavy rain showers in these.

They also add a lot of warmth and I often wear them with leggings underneath in winter to stay warm even if it isn’t raining.

I like the fact they have a more sporty, trendy style than a lot of waterproof trousers on the market.

In terms of sizing, I would recommend sizing down as these are on the larger side, but the adjustability at the waist means you have some leeway on this.

My only slight disappointment with these is the colour options. The matching Rain.RDY jacket is navy, but the trousers are only available in black.

PROS

  • Lightweight
  • Packs in bag nicely
  • Waterproof

CONS

  • No navy option to match jacket

Sizes: XS – XL
Colour: Black

Under Armour Drive Rain Pants

RRP £105

The Under Armour Golf Rain Pants are lightweight, waterproof trousers that keep the water out.

They are windproof, which helps keep you warm on windy days. These aren’t the thickest and are really for keeping water out rather than keeping the heat in. That does mean they can be used year-round, though, which is great.

They don’t have belt loops but do have an elastic back waistband to keep these in place.

These are zippered at the base of the legs around the ankles, making them a lot easier to get on and off than some waterproof trousers.

They have two front zipped pockets which are great for keeping items you have safe and dry. There is also a back zippered pocket which is handy for a phone.

PROS:

  • Warm
  • Good zipped pockets
  • Waterproof

CONS:

  • None

Colours: Black
Sizes: XS – XXL
