Suspended for a year after making an obscene gesture towards a fan, Bio Kim has rebounded with a win on the Asian Tour

The Asian Tour pro who received a 12-month ban for making a rude gesture towards fans has won his first title since the controversial incident in 2019.

Bio Kim was originally handed a three-year suspension by the KPGA in October 2019 after the then 29-year old dished out a middle finger to a group of spectators before slamming his club into the ground, after a fan took a photo of the Korean during his backswing.

Kim went onto win the event, but the no-nonsense KPGA proved they were not to be messed with when they issued their Tour money leader a three-year suspension. The ban was eventually reduced to just one year following an appeal, although Kim was still ordered to serve out 120 hours of community service.

Having returned to professional golf in the last few months, Kim, now 31, produced his first victory since the embarrassing moment took place as he secured the GSΒ Caltex Maekyung Open in his homeland.

Kim took a four-shot lead into the final round and eventually won by two for his eighth career victory and his first on the Asian Tour.

β€œI tried to stay in the present, clear my mind and not think about things too much,” Kim said, perhaps trying to prove that the anger incensed incident is now long behind him…
